Who is the Judge Reviewing Veliaj’s Appeal on Security Measures?

The Special Court of Appeal (GJKKO) has officially registered the appeal request submitted by the lawyers of Tirana Mayor Erion Veliaj and four other individuals under investigation, seeking a change in their security measures.

According to an announcement from the Court of Appeal for Corruption and Organized Crime, the case was assigned through a lottery system on March 4, 2025.

The appeal concerns the cases of individuals E.V., E.A., M.P., Sh.F., and G.S., challenging:

  • Decision No. 7, dated February 9, 2025
  • Decision No. 14, dated February 12, 2025

Both decisions were issued by the First Instance Special Court for Corruption and Organized Crime, which ruled on the security measures for the defendants.

Following the lottery selection process, the presiding judge for this case will be Engert Pëllumbi.
