The 19th Balkan Student Mathematical Olympiad was held for the first time in Albania and successfully concluded in the city of Korça.

This event was organized by the Southeast European Mathematical Society and brought together 111 students from 27 different universities, including those from Albania, Greece, North Macedonia, Bulgaria, Romania, and Turkmenistan.

The President of the Albanian Mathematical Association, Ardian Naço, stated that organizing this Olympiad was a significant challenge but also an excellent opportunity to promote achievements in the field of mathematics.

When asked about the performance of Albanian students in the competition, Naço emphasized the importance of continuous participation in international events like this to improve quality and competitiveness.

A participant from Turkey, Oguz Han, an outstanding student who has taken part in several similar Olympiads, said he was impressed by the high level of Albanian students. He highlighted the warm hospitality he received and praised the intelligence of young Albanians.

Oguz Han, a student from Antalya, mentioned that this was his first time visiting Albania. Although he has participated in many international Olympiads, he was amazed by the opportunities and the level of achievement of Albanian students.

During a special ceremony held on Saturday evening at the “Andon Zako Çajupi” theater in Korça, medals were awarded to the top-performing students of the Olympiad. However, none of the Albanian participants managed to secure a medal.
