The Prime Minister of Montenegro, Zdravko Krivokapic, told Serbian media that he would have “never accepted” the recognition of Kosovo’s independence.

His declaration fueled a strong reaction among the lines of Albanian politicians in the country.

Albanian MP Fatmir Gjeka said that the battle for Kosovo “ended a long time ago”.

“Who doesn’t understand that is on the side of failure”, said Gjeka.

“Montenegro is a member of NATO and with this sort of primitivism at the top, I don’t think it would send a positive message neither to partners nor anyone else”, stated the mayor of Tuzi, Nik Gjeloshi.

The Prime Minister of Montenegro added that if he would have been the prime minister of the country prior to the latter’s recognition of Kosovo, he would have never consented to that.

Krivokapic said that his eventual decision to withdraw the recognition of Kosovo as an independent state would topple his government since in the first plenary session.

According to the Montenegrin premier, Serbia is the main ally of the country.
