The President of the Republic, Ilir Meta, published a report compiled by The Heritage Foundation, a research and education institution based in Washington D.C.
The President said that according to this report, economic freedom in Albania dropped by 9 points from the previous year.
According to the head of the state “the significant decline” comes as a direct result of the “brutal undermining of property rights” and a “dysfunctional judicial system”.
“The report confirms my continuous public approach, which I have also expressed through decrees, in defense of free competition”, wrote President Meta on Facebook.
Meta stressed the urgent need to “free the state, Assembly, government and judiciary from the siege of oligarchs and occult interests”.
In conclusion, he emphasized that elections will present a “historical opportunity” to revive economic freedom, alongside all other freedoms, attributed to a European country.
