Prime Minister Edi Rama declared this Friday from Durrës that the Socialist Party is at the right moment and time to push forward Albania’s membership process in the European Union. During a meeting in Durrës, he emphasized that the May 11 vote in favor of the Socialist Party will be a clear signal to the EU that Albanians want integration, not political instability.

“The question is not whether we will win, but how deep the result will be, to show the EU that Albania is determined for membership,” Rama said.

The Prime Minister also touched on the justice reform, stating that the Socialists should feel proud of the changes undertaken. He stressed that without the Socialist Party, it would not have been possible for justice to act against individuals who were once untouchable.

“We don’t feel good when we see someone who was once among us now in the hands of justice, but this is part of the process. In the past, in this country, people were killed in the middle of the boulevard and no one was held accountable. Today, we have a functioning justice system, and we made that happen. Those who promise to dismantle SPAK are against the reform,” Rama said.

Ahead of the May 11 elections, the Prime Minister called on citizens to support the Socialist Party to ensure the continuation of reforms and the path toward European integration.
