Foreign direct investments in Albania reached €1.6 billion in 2024, marking an increase of €92 million compared to 2023.

According to an analysis by the Bank of Albania, Turkey emerged as the largest investor, with Turkish companies investing €257 million. The total stock of Turkish investments by the end of 2024 stood at €1.3 billion, reflecting an annual increase of around 25%.

Turkish enterprises have long been present in Albania across various sectors, including banking, energy, and extractive industries, and have recently expanded into real estate and construction.

Italy was the second-largest investor in 2024, with a total inflow of €200 million. Meanwhile, the Netherlands, which held the top spot for five consecutive years, dropped to third place. Dutch investments declined to €176 million, although the total stock remained high at €2.54 billion. The withdrawal of Shell from oil exploration in Shpirag influenced the rankings of top foreign investors.

Shell has been one of the few significant Dutch investors in Albania, having made substantial investments in oil exploration in recent years.
