Prime Minister Edi Rama presented the Socialist Party’s economic program this Saturday for the May 11 elections. A significant part of the Socialists’ platform focused on salaries and pensions. Rama first announced that the minimum wage will increase to €500 by 2026. He then addressed salaries for specific categories within the public sector.

Rama emphasized that teachers’ salaries will reach €1250 by the year 2030, up from the current €950.

“The average salary of teachers. The average teacher salary has doubled compared to when we took office. It was €420 in 2013 and today it is €950. In Albania 2030, teachers will have an average salary of €1250.”

He also promised that during the fourth mandate, a school meal program will be implemented, along with an “After School” program.

“Within the fourth mandate, every municipality that is a regional center will launch the school meal program, as well as a new after-school program, the After School program. This will be a step forward based on the community center school model, because where there is food, there will also be the possibility for parents not to worry about picking up their children from school during work hours, or wondering where their child is after class ends. We will have clarity about an extended school day that goes well beyond regular class hours,” said Rama.

Rama also promised a salary increase for doctors, which is expected to reach €2000 by 2030.

“Doctors’ salaries used to be €490. In 2024, the average salary for doctors is €1670. In Albania 2030, we want doctors’ salaries to reach €2000.”

Regarding the Gross Domestic Product, the Prime Minister stated:

“When we took office, the GDP — the total output of Albania — was €9.6 billion. Today, it stands at €25 billion. We have increased the total output two and a half times. Albania 2030 will have a GDP of €35 billion,” said Rama.
