Prime Minister Edi Rama presented the Socialist Party’s economic platform this Saturday for the May 11 elections. During the presentation of the economic program, Rama focused extensively on salaries and pensions. The head of government announced that starting in January 2026, the minimum wage will increase to €500.

Regarding the average salary, Rama stated that by 2030, it is expected to reach €1200 or even higher.

“The average salary in the private sector is €372. Today, the average salary in the public sector has reached €1000, and in Albania 2030 it will be at least €1200. The overall average salary will more than double, and we will increase it by over 30%.”

“In 2013, when we took office, the minimum wage was €157. Today, in 2024, it has reached €400, and starting from 2026 — through a decision to be made after the elections — the minimum wage will be €500.

To support workers benefiting from this rapid increase, employers will be required to raise the minimum wage, but we will offer a relief: for the first 18 months after the increase, the state will not collect any tax obligations on the additional €100,” said Rama.

Regarding pensions, Rama stated that by 2030 the average pension will reach €400, while the minimum pension will be €200.

“Our ambition is that by 2030, the average pension will be €400 for all those who have paid full social contributions. Meanwhile, the minimum pension for everyone else will aim to reach €200,” said Rama.
