Prime Minister Edi Rama continued his electoral tour in Greece and on Sunday held a meeting with the Albanian community in Athens. Rama opened his speech by extending wishes to Muslim believers for the holiday of Eid al-Fitr.

Prime Minister Edi Rama said that anyone who chooses to return to Albania today will be better off tomorrow than by staying in emigration.

“Whoever has the courage to return to Albania today will have more tomorrow than by staying here. The average salary today is 830 euros, and in the fourth term we will raise it to 1,000 euros,” said Rama.

He promised that after the May 11 elections, he will return again to Greece to thank this community for the votes they will give for Albania’s integration into the European Union.

He added that after May 11, all Albanians will be equal citizens of the European Union. “We are here together, but after May 11, we will all be equals among equals,” he said.

Rama also emphasized that Albania has reached a stage where foreigners respect it for what it is.

“Today, Albania is a country that holds its own destiny in its hands and is no longer at anyone’s mercy. We took over the country buried in debt, where everything had come to a halt due to countless obligations. Suppliers and companies were no longer being paid because payments to them had been suspended,” said Rama.

Rama invited emigrants to vote for the Socialist Party in the 2025 elections to ensure that their children can have a European passport.

“You have a duty as parents to give your children a European passport and to tell them: Learn the Greek language and Greek culture, learn the Italian language and Italian culture, learn all the languages of Europe and its culture. But you do not need to change who you are or what your passport says—Albanian. Because with this passport that you will have, by joining Edi Rama and the Socialists in 2025, you will have the opportunity to stay here, travel anywhere in Europe, and be respected as equal citizens among Europeans,” Rama said.
