COVID-19 infection rates in Kosovo remain high. The National Public Health Institute says that 6 infected patients have unfortunately lost their lives, while 529 new infections have been identified.
Since the onset of the pandemic, Kosovar authorities report that 1674 people lost their lives, most of whom with underlying health conditions.
In addition, 333 patients have been added to the total recoveries list, meaning 62 983 patients won the battle against the virus.
The majority of current positive cases are in the communes of Prishtina with 191, Peja 44, Ferizaj 34, Mitrovica 33 and Gjakova, 32 cases.
The rise in new COVID-19 cases was forewarned by healthcare experts, especially as a consequence of new developments in the political sphere.
According to them, during the electoral campaign of the February 14th elections, political parties, as well as citizens, haven’t complied with anti-COVID measures as well as social distancing and this has resulted in an increase of new infections.
