Prime Minister Edi Rama has expressed his conviction that Albania is closer than ever to the moment when a woman will lead the government.
According to him, this woman will come from the ranks of the Socialist Party. Rama made this statement on Friday during a meeting with socialist women and girls.
“Mark my words today, and in 2030 we will meet again, because we’ll be supporting a woman Prime Minister. Now everyone will start saying ‘no way’, but we will meet again in 2030. I am convinced that the day when Albania will have its first female Prime Minister is not as far away as it might have seemed until yesterday. And I have no doubt – she will be a Socialist,” Rama said.
The Prime Minister also emphasized that women are the strongest pillar of the Socialist Party in every election battle.
He pointed out that “71 women are included in the list for the May 11 elections, and 1/3 of the party’s political leaders are women.”
Rama described the 52% representation of women in the closed candidate list of the Socialist Party as significant.
“We are unbreakable, because we have women and girls with us,” Rama concluded.
