During the past year, the Legal Aid Center in Gjirokastër assisted in 362 cases providing free legal support. Beneficiaries are individuals from economically vulnerable groups, receiving legal aid at no cost for family disputes, property issues, or other judicial matters.

“The Primary Legal Aid Center offers legal services to anyone in need who is in financial hardship or belongs to a special category under the law, such as victims of violence, minors in conflict with the law, individuals receiving disability payments, or persons in rehabilitation centers,” said Julia Veizi.

Due to rising fees and costs for legal services, there is now a high number of citizens applying for free legal aid.

“Legal aid is essential and very helpful for citizens who cannot afford the expenses of hiring a lawyer or paying for a court expert. It has greatly benefited people, especially in Gjirokastër County, including Tepelenë and Sarandë, with the majority of requests coming from the city of Gjirokastër,” said Julia Veizi, legal aid specialist.

This center also provides legal support to all parties seeking to resolve conflicts outside the courtroom.
