The Italian Ambassador to Albania, Marco Alberti, along with Giampiero Carrieri, a senior official from the Guardia di Finanza, held a meeting today with the Head of the Supreme State Audit (KLSH), Arben Shehu.
During the meeting, Ambassador Alberti expressed his appreciation for the work carried out by the KLSH in the field of financial oversight of state institutions. He emphasized that the cooperation between Albanian and Italian institutions is set to intensify in the near future.
Ambassador Alberti described the role of the KLSH as fundamental in Albania’s European integration process. “Mr. Chairman, you hold a delicate position within the structure and architecture of the state, especially in the context of EU accession negotiations, where transparency, regularity, accuracy, accountability, and the system of public accounts play a vital role,” stated Alberti.
The Head of the KLSH, Arben Shehu, thanked Ambassador Alberti for his visit and recognition. He highlighted the great importance of cooperation between the two countries in the area of financial investigation of public institutions, considering it essential for strengthening good governance and the rule of law in Albania. The Ambassador confirmed that cooperation between the KLSH and key academic institutions specializing in financial investigation will begin in the coming months.
