During a press conference with the Danish Prime Minister, Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama was asked about the EU report on Albania.
A journalist from international media questioned Rama about a paragraph in the EU report referring to an “uneven playing field” during the elections.
Rama responded by saying that those lines were taken from a much longer passage, which overall was positive, and stressed that the electoral process in Albania was a 100% expression of the will of the Albanian people.
“I must say that what you quoted are just a few sentences from a much longer statement, which actually welcomed the Albanian elections. The report refers to criticisms in the preliminary report, which need to be reviewed. I want to emphasize that the Albanian elections were a 100% expression of the will of the Albanian people. Criticism must lead to improvements—there is no doubt about that. Our electoral process is not like Denmark’s, but it complies with OSCE-ODIHR standards,” Rama said.
