With backpacks and sporting gear, many have spotted the Slovenian couple, Ida and Marjan, walking through some of the most beautiful areas of Shkodër. We met them at the Mesi Bridge, their next destination, where they shared with us their impressions of Albania and their first journey through the country.

“This is our first time here. We visited Shkodër, and later we’ll head to Theth. We follow a map for each journey, as we don’t know these areas. We’ve explored every region on foot, and it’s taken us about a month. We started our journey from Kukës, then went to Valbonë,” said Ida Oderlap Kranjc.

She also told us their adventure continued in Montenegro.

“We really enjoy this adventure. Last year, we visited Montenegro. We walked through Žabljak, Gusinje, and Plav. Our next destination is Theth. We’re in Albania now, still at the beginning of our journey, so we don’t know how it will go.”

Despite their age, the Slovenian couple hasn’t given up their passion for traveling the world.

“We’ve visited many countries when we were younger. Now that we’re a bit older, we’ve taken a slower pace and we’re enjoying this lifestyle. We have to admit it’s not easy to travel with all this luggage, but it’s worth it.”

We spoke less with Marjan, Ida’s lifelong travel companion, who with his modest English, shared his appreciation for his experience in Shkodër.

“Super experience. I love the mountains here. The food is amazing, but the mountains are beautiful.”

Ida and Marjan are among the many tourists visiting Shkodër at this time of year. Among their many adventures, they highlight their journey through Albania as one of the most special.
