Banks hold a loan portfolio worth 872 billion ALL. This figure indicates increased interest from businesses and citizens to invest through bank loans.
The total amount of loans taken from commercial banks in Albania reached 872 billion ALL at the end of April.
Compared to April of last year, there is a 13% increase, showing that individuals and businesses, besides their interest in investing, have also gained greater confidence in the financial sector.
According to data reported by the Central Bank, loans increased by 5.5 billion ALL in just one month, and by 101 billion ALL over the course of a year.
For comparison, this expansion is mainly attributed to business loans, which have accounted for 54 billion ALL in the past year.
Moreover, loans in foreign currency increased by 18%, surpassing the growth in local currency loans, which rose by 7%.
The growth in lending during April is a positive signal for the economy and the banking system. It reflects an active financial system that supports economic growth. However, this growth should be accompanied by caution and sustainable policies to maintain loan quality.
