Durrës police have released an official statement regarding the tragic incident that occurred in the waters off Durrës, where two foreign tourists were found at sea, one of whom died.
According to the police, the two British tourists, aged 34 and 31, were riding a Jet Ski when, during maneuvers, they are believed to have lost control of the watercraft and fallen into the sea.
“Border Police services, after receiving the alert, immediately responded with a watercraft to assist the two individuals who had fallen into the water, transporting them back to port to be taken to the hospital. Preliminary checks by the hospital emergency team waiting at the port confirmed that one of the individuals, 34-year-old S.O., a resident of the UK, had lost his life. Meanwhile, 31-year-old V.B., also a UK resident, was immediately transported to the hospital in critical condition,” the police stated.
A special investigative team has been set up, and under the direction of the Prosecutor’s Office, work is ongoing to clarify the circumstances and legally document the case.
