Around 2.9 million megawatt-hours of electricity were produced during the first four months of this year from all generation sources in Albania, marking a decline compared to the same period last year, when 3.1 million megawatt-hours were generated.

According to the Regulatory Authority’s report, 47% of the electricity came from the Drin River hydropower plants, while private HPPs and solar panels accounted for the remaining 53%.

Photovoltaics are still in the early stages of development, but the growth rate of solar energy production is rapid. This year, solar sources supplied about 7% of the electricity network.

Meanwhile, total electricity consumption for the four-month period reached approximately 2.9 million MWh, showing a slight increase compared to January–April last year.

Losses in the distribution network were recorded at 17%, marking an improvement compared to the same period in the previous year, when losses stood at 18.5%.
