The Socialist Party celebrated its 34th anniversary this Thursday. Prime Minister Edi Rama delivered a speech, stating that the Socialist Party has never shied away from responsibility, and emphasized that the main objective of this fourth mandate will be Albania’s accession to the European Union within this decade.

“This mandate comes with greater responsibility than ever before, precisely because it resulted from stronger support for the Socialist Party. We have never avoided the responsibilities that come with victory. That is the main reason why we never tire of winning, of taking on responsibility, and reflecting on what we can do better.

Every victory is tied to a mandate of trust—to lead the country and to integrate Albania into the European Union within this decade. This goal is both achievable and difficult. It is as close as it is dependent on how quickly we can improve what needs improving and fulfill what needs to be fulfilled.

We have no reason not to be confident. We have a new team with no less than 83 MPs. More important than the number is the composition of the team—the blend of experience and new arrivals, and the better distribution of responsibilities across every territory—which gives this new team the ability to carry the weight,” Rama stated.
