Albania imports oil from a range of countries, with Saudi Arabia now emerging as the leading supplier.
In May, 40% of Albania’s total oil imports came from Saudi Arabia, followed by Egypt and Algeria, which supplied 12% and 11% respectively.
The trade landscape has shifted compared to previous years due to developments in the Middle East. Countries like India, Oman, Greece, and Italy have reduced their exports to Albania.
Trade data for May shows that Albania’s traditional suppliers in the region have significantly decreased their market share. Greece dropped from 14% to 4%, while Italy declined from 5.5% to 1.2%. In contrast, Croatia and Romania have become more prominent suppliers this year, accounting for 5.5% and 3.8% of total imports, respectively.
