The leader of the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK), Memli Krasniqi, stated that his party is ready to file a case with the Constitutional Court over “constitutional violations committed by the chair of the constitutive session, Avni Dehari, and the Vetëvendosje Movement in the last two sessions.”

Following a meeting with President Vjosa Osmani, he said that Vetëvendosje is acting in contradiction to a Constitutional Court ruling, which, according to him, prohibits the secret voting for the election of the Speaker of Parliament, KosovaPress reports.

Regarding the possibility of President Osmani submitting a special request to the Constitutional Court to resolve the deadlock in the Assembly, Krasniqi said that it is up to her to decide.

“It is up to the president to make such a decision. I cannot say whether she will or when she might send such a request. What I can say is that PDK has its case ready concerning the constitutional violations that were carried out deliberately and knowingly during the last two sessions, and which could happen again tomorrow if the approach of the chair and Vetëvendosje does not change. But these are separate issues,” he said.

President Osmani had earlier met with the leader of Vetëvendosje, Albin Kurti, who said that he is doing everything to help constitute the Assembly, in a spirit of cooperation and compromise.

Following the meetings with Kurti and Krasniqi, President Osmani is now meeting with the leader of LDK, Lumir Abdixhiku, and is expected to meet with the head of AAK, Ramush Haradinaj, on Wednesday.
