In a ceremony held in Korçë, the new building of the Greek General Consulate was inaugurated—a site of historical and symbolic importance, once home to renowned poet and Nobel laureate Giorgos Seferis.

Present at the event was the Greek Foreign Minister, who delivered strong messages of friendship, respect, and coexistence between the two peoples.

“Border change policies belong to the past. Today we are united by a shared history, common values, and above all, the Greek minority, which is a bridge of cooperation and understanding. As Seferis would have written, old stories do not interest people,” said Giorgos Gerapetritis, the Foreign Minister of Greece.

On his part, Albania’s Foreign Minister described the establishment of the consulate as a gesture that embodies the renewed relationship between the two countries, founded on mutual respect and long-standing friendship.

“Let us be the generation that builds a true and lasting partnership between Albania and Greece. Greece has been and remains an important partner for Albania. As Seferis said, bridges are not built with stones, but with words and memory,” stated Igli Hasani, the Albanian Foreign Minister.

At the heart of this visit and ceremony were clear political messages: there is no room for rhetoric about separation or border changes, while the Greek minority in Albania and the Albanian community in Greece serve as bridges connecting the two nations toward a shared European future.
