After targeting municipal directors and heads of administrative units, Prime Minister Edi Rama has now called for the dismissal of deputy mayors across the country.
During a meeting with mayors in Durrës, the head of government stated that the deputy mayors are burned out and need to be refreshed, emphasizing that they are not performing as they should.
“I see the deputy mayors exhausted. You’re laughing, but even you only have two years left,” he said, addressing the mayors. “I see them very tired, Pjerin, the deputy mayors. You should dismiss them all and do a complete refresh. The deputy mayors responsible for urban and rural matters must be more energetic. The agriculture departments must be much more articulate,” Rama stated.
The Prime Minister further added that it is essential for municipalities to have more dynamic and dedicated leadership structures to implement the government’s projects.
“Who knows what kind of deep sleep your deputy mayors are in while you’re here. It is in your honor, Pjerin, to dismiss and refresh them all,” Rama said.
Rama’s statements come just hours after he issued an ultimatum that by Monday, all heads of Administrative Units across the country must be dismissed.
