U.S. Special Presidential Envoy Richard Grenell has responded to Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani, accusing her of “manipulating President Donald Trump’s words” following her statement about having “credible information” that Trump had prevented a Serbian attack on Kosovo.
“Shame on Vjosa Osmani for manipulating the words of President Donald Trump. Donald Trump was nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize for his work on peace and economic normalization between Kosovo and Serbia in 2019 and 2020—through the signing of the Washington Agreement by Trump in the Oval Office at the White House. Osmani was not part of that agreement. And to pretend as if there is something new is absurd,” Grenell wrote.
It’s worth noting that Osmani also praised the 2020 agreement signed between Kosovo and Serbia at the White House during Trump’s first term as president.
The recent statements by President Trump and President Osmani have stirred both reactions and confusion, particularly due to the lack of concrete details—including when such an escalation may have allegedly occurred.
During Trump’s first administration, Grenell played a key role in the U.S.-led efforts to normalize Kosovo-Serbia relations.
