The counting of ballots for the election of the new Speaker of Parliament has been completed. Niko Peleshi has been elected to this position, securing the support of the parliamentary majority.

Members of the new legislature took part in the voting process. Meanwhile, the opposition, in protest against the procedure, did not use ballot papers but instead displayed symbolic placards in the chamber.

Out of 87 participating MPs, Niko Peleshi received 84 valid votes in favor and 3 against.
