In the midst of a heated debate that has swept all of Europe regarding the efficacy of the AstraZeneca vaccine, yesterday night the Immunization and Vaccination Committee gathered to discuss future steps in Albania.

At the end of the meeting, they decided to “continue with the vaccination process against the coronavirus with the British-Swedish vaccine”.

The use of the ‘AstraZeneca’ jab has begun in our country for several days now and currently, it is being administered to teaching personnel.

As he was closely following the inoculation process in Durres yesterday, PM Rama said that despite the fact that certain countries in the EU have suspended AstraZeneca, in many other countries the process is continuing, while adding that the recent events are the result of a major trade war.

“It’s not people’s fault that they are concerned because of so many kinds of news and moves that are a result of 1001 different reasons. This is a big battle of life and death but it is also a major trade war. The following countries haven’t suspended the vaccination process: Poland, Hungary, Czechoslovakia, Croatia, Serbia, Canada, Belgium, which confirmed that it will continue just today, because there is no scientific evidence and we can’t just stop the process because of a doubt that is related to another series and everyone, even those that have suspended the process, are waiting for a confirmation from WHO and EMA, which until now have only confirmed the vaccine’s value and when they suspend it, we will too, “stated Rama.

Meanwhile, in the last 24 hours, the country has seen a rise in the number of victims from COVID-19.

According to the Ministry of Health, in the last 24 hours, 17 people lost their lives, compared to 15 in the previous day. In addition, there is a fall in infection rates, as 475 citizens resulted positive, out of 3005 tests. Tirana’s four COVID designated hospitals and three regional ones are treating 445 patients, 31 of whom in the ICU and 16 intubated.
