The leader of the Democratic Party, Lulzim Basha held a virtual discussion today with EU’s Commissioner on Budget and Administration, Johannes Hahn, who has earlier been responsible for the process of enlargement.
Hahn valued the opposition’s role in the ratification of the Justice Reform as he continued by emphasizing that the rule of law should be the most important matter for a nation that aspires to become a member of the European Union.
“I am certain that a country like Albania has made a lot of efforts [for the integration process] and I remember clearly that this was only made possible through your commitment,” – said Hahn by bringing in mind the unanimous ratification of the Reform on Justice by both the opposition and majority force.
“If a new administration will be even more dedicated, this will have a considerable impact,” said Hahn – “and I can provide my support in all your endeavors.”
Basha expressed his gratitude towards the EU’s commitment towards Albania in the face of the 2019 earthquake aftermath. He said that one of the main goals for Tirana is mobilization in order to overcome the problems it left behind, even though the main priority has been and still is the war on corruption.
