Sport is increasingly being used as a tool to steer young people away from harmful habits and guide them toward a healthy lifestyle. In this context, a volleyball championship was held in the city of Elbasan among high school students, both girls and boys—an event that has now become a tradition.
The championship concluded successfully, bringing competition, excitement, and broad participation from young people. In the girls’ final, the high schools “Kostandin Kristoforidhi” and “Luigj Gurakuqi” faced off, with “Kostandin Kristoforidhi” winning 2–0. Meanwhile, in the boys’ final, the match between “Kostandin Kristoforidhi” and “Sali Ceka” was won by the latter, also with a 2–0 score.
“It was a very beautiful event. Both teams—‘Kostandini,’ which won the trophy, and ‘Luigj Gurakuqi’—were evenly matched. They played very well and enjoyed the game, even though winning always brings joy.
Participation in such activities helps keep children away from other issues that are not positive for their age. Today proved it was a great event, full of competition and emotion,” said Artur Spahiu, Physical Education teacher at “Kostandin Kristoforidhi.”
Organizers emphasized the importance of such activities in shaping young people and distancing them from negative influences.
“We just announced the winners in the girls’ category and we congratulate the coaches and athletes for their great work and the emotions they gave us.
How important are these activities for this age group? As we live in a modern time where technology dominates, we try to pull children away from it. To have a more active and healthy youth, free from harmful habits, sport always delivers this message: it keeps you away from bad influences and also helps with socialization, awareness, and teamwork,” said Mirandi Backa, Director of the Elbasan Multi-Sport Club.
Elbasan continues to organize activities of this kind, promoting sports and encouraging young people to engage in athletic activities.
