The electronic voting pilot project at Tirana 10, one of the 11 administrative units in Tirana, will be carried out by Smartmatic, the company that has also been chosen to conduct the nationwide electronic identification process.

The bulletin was published in the National Procurement Agency which considered the company’s offer as the most suitable one.

The two-month contract for the pilot project will be implemented at 32 polling centers from the Tirana 10 administrative unit.

The total cost of the electronic counting and overall electronic voting pilot project is estimated at around €35 million.

On Thursday, the election campaign officially kicked off in the country.

Prime Minister Edi Rama is seeking re-election, while Basha asserted that the change is near.
