8 people in the ages 35-74, have lost their lives to COVID-19 in the last 24 hours whereas 449 new cases have been registered.

Our country is facing a dropping tendency of new cases recently, at a time where other countries in the region like Kosovo and Northern Macedonia are seeing a considerable rise.

Despite seeing this drop in new cases, the Ministry of Health is calling on citizens to continue being vigilant and comply to all the preventive anti-COVID measures.

Currently, the COVID designated hospitals in Tirana as well as three regional hospitals are treating 343 patients, 18 of whom in the ICU and 10 intubated.

In the last 24 hours, 2900 vaccines have been administered, bringing the total number of vaccinations since the start of the process to 62,248 for healthcare professionals, the elderly and teachers.

Only a few days ago, the Albanian government was able to sign a deal for 1 million doses of the Chinese “Sinovac” vaccine.

Until now, our country has received 192 thousand doses and starting from this weekend the massive vaccination of people over 70 will commence.
