Soon, the European Union will send 651.000 Pfizer jabs to the Western Balkans.
The news was confirmed through a post on Facebook by Prime Minister Edi Rama, following a phone call with the President of the EU Commission, Ursula von der Leyen.
EU chief Von der Leyen announced on Twitter that the Commission has funded vaccines for the region, adding that she spoke to PM Rama over their distribution in Albania, as well as the EU Commission’s intent to inoculate healthcare staff as well as vulnerable groups.
“We stand near our partners in the Western Balkans. I spoke to Edi Rama over the distribution of the vaccines in Albania, funded by the EU Commission in order to inoculate as soon as possible health care personnel and people in need. Together we will overcome the pandemic”, wrote Von der Leyen.
The head of the EU delegation in Albania, Luigi Soreca, also took it on Twitter to inform about the vaccines funded by the EU Commission.
