This is Sajmir Beqiri, the chairman of the Association of Para and Tetraplegics in Shkodra.
In an interview for Euronews Albania, he expressed his disappointment from political parties after none of them included people with disabilities in their platforms.
“None of the candidates has spoken about vulnerable groups or people with disabilities”, said Beqiri.
“Despite infrastructural improvements and some institutions setting up ramps to give access to this category, there’s still a lot to be done”, he said.
Beqiri also added that people with disabilities might encounter difficulties when participating in this electoral process.
“Ramps are missing in several facilities”, he said.
According to him, a matter of priority is the immunization of this category, because due to other underlying conditions, they might be more vulnerable to COVID-19.
“I see this as truly urgent, we need to get the vaccine”, concluded Beqiri.
