The candidate of the Socialist Movement for Integration in Elbasan, Ermir Gjinishi, listed the reasons why he got into politics, while in regards to the city he’s running to win a seat in parliament for he said that it suffers from all sorts of problems.

“The district of Elbasan is my district, my historical and cultural roots are there. I am in my own habitat and that’s where my roots are. In Elbasan you may find all the failures of this government”, he said.

Speaking to journalist Ilva Tare, he said that he feels “saddened” by the current state of the Albanian Assembly.

“I cannot stand the low level of doing politics in the Albanian parliament. I am appalled when I hear people in the parliament that do not know how to read, they’re illiterate, these are our lawmakers and they have the country’s fate at hand. Nothing cam have an individual value if your country is not heading where it should. I cannot separate personal interest from that of my own country”, he said.

He also listed the main reasons that convinced him to race under the banner of the Socialist Movement for Integration.

“I’ve never been a member of any party. I believed that Edi Rama would have been a different prime minister. Why did I go to the SMI? Firstly, I think that pluralism in a democratic party begins with the parties. SMI is a movement, it’s a very open party and in our lists, you may find exceptional people. It is a party connected with the youth, while today’s main crisis is exactly the massive leaving of the youth. I see myself quite well”, he concluded.
