The Socialist Party’s internal political climate was one of the topics discussed on tonight’s Ilva Now on Euronews Albania.
Critiques aimed at Prime Minister Edi Rama by former SP figures point him out as the person that “determines the political careers” of the party’s members.
Deputy Prime Minister Erion Braçi dismissed these claims and added that everyone in the Socialist Party has been “recognized for their contribution”.
“An individual interrupting a career? I am inside the SP, and I’ve participated in everything, from the last meeting of the electoral staff to the presidency meeting, and this does not ring true to me, that there is such a decision to interrupt individual careers, but on the opposite, there is recognition for the work done at the SP, in parliament or in the district they might be covering as political leaders. The assessment is done by the presidency of the SP”, he said.
Asked by Ilva Tare on the profile of the average Socialist in Albania, the deputy premier responded:
“To me, from what I’ve seen and think, a Socialist is a member of a small community that has power, it has a voice, but it also needs more than that. It needs to have a dignified representation. To me, a Socialist is a hard worker, no matter where they work”.
