Vjosa Osmani has just taken the oath of office as the new President of the Republic of Kosovo.
The inauguration ceremony, compared to previous ones, was significantly downsized due to the current pandemic.
Accompanied by the Speaker of the Assembly, Kosovo’s newly elected president took the Constitution in her hands and swore in to guarantee full compliance with the supreme law of the land.
Among participants in the ceremony were Prime Minister Albin Kurti, the foreign diplomatic corps, as well as close relatives.
As per tradition, the inauguration ceremony continues with an honorary visit to the Martyr’s Cemetery and the grave memorial of former President Ibrahim Rugova.
Vjosa Osmani is the second woman to be elected president, after Atifete Jahjaga.
In the snap parliamentary elections, Osmani was voted by more than 300.000 citizens, and 71 votes in Assembly.
