The Minister of Reconstruction, Arben Ahmetaj stated on tonight’s ‘Ilva Now’, that the responsibility that was entrusted to him after the tragic earthquake that took the lives of 51 people, is “one of the most important obligations” of his life.

The Socialist minister stated that it has been 30 years that he is working in this field and that he started his career as an assistant in the Ministry of Finance.

“I’ve been working for the past 30 years and my story started as an assistant at the Ministry of Finance. My story is hours of work. It is one of the most important duties of my life. [Minister of Reconstruction]. This job has given me the pleasure of my life,” he said.

While counting the work he has done in the process of reconstruction, Ahmetaj stated that until now, 2200 homes have been built and 40 schools.

“We have promised that by Spring of next year, there will be no more signs of the earthquake,” added Ahmetaj.

His name is ranked 5th in the list of candidates for the district country of Tirana, but Ahmetaj says that what’s important is for SP to get its third mandate, instead of him getting personal votes.

“We are all in this race, regardless of the number. My battle is getting as many votes for my party as possible and of course, that I get as many votes as possible. I don’t call anything success or failure. I call SP’s third mandate a success, names and numbers are unimportant. I am campaigning like never before because I think that this is the most beautiful party of Albania and of Albanians,” said Ahmetaj.

The Minister of Reconstruction also announced that today, he was authorized to sign a contract for the purchasing of 50 thousand doses of the Sputnik vaccines, whereas 50 thousand additional AstraZeneca doses have been secured through a donation from a country that is a close ally.

Ahmetaj also touched on the story of the day, being the walkout at the Rinas airport, which he called an infringement on national security and according to Ahmetaj, those responsible should be held accountable and face the applicable institutions.

He also called on the ‘Albcontrol’ employees saying that they are just like everyone else and should act like everyone else.

“They are people like everyone else, so they should act like everyone else. Why, are they the only ones that have debt? How about citizens working in the textile industry, mechanical factories, manufacturers, they don’t have debt?”
