The leaders of the European Union and the 17 leaders of non-member states met today in the Czech capital, Prague. This meeting at Prague’s Castle comes after French President Emmanuel Macron’s proposal for a new European political community.
In a statement to the press before the start of the summit, Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama said that for European countries the most important thing is to be united.
“Of course, it’s not a new idea, it’s a very old idea, but reborn in times of crisis, and I hope we won’t have another crisis where we don’t have to hold meetings like this, but from this meeting, we will continue and build something very important for the whole European community and people”, said Rama.
Asked about the value that the European political committee has for Albania, Rama said that Albania is part of the Western Balkans region, surrounded by countries of the European Union as a whole.
“And for us, it is absolutely decisive, that even though we are not yet in the EU, we are European”, said Rama.
