Analyst Baton Haxhiu said that Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic is “playing war games” in the wake of the recent developments taking place in Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and North Macedonia.

According to him, an armed conflict can very easily occur in the region, without any major motivation behind it, as it has happened in former Yugoslavia.

“I’ve lived through four wars during former Yugoslavia. I’ve seen Bosnia, Croatia, Slovenia, and don’t even make me go over Kosovo and the Macedonian crisis. All of these conflicts were sparked by banal reasons and then nobody knew how it escalated into a full-out war and you start counting the casualties. Nobody can know how a conflict in Bosnia or Kosovo may erupt. It takes a single victim in Bosnia or northern Kosovo to start a war”, he said.

Baton Haxhiu said that although the region has experienced several wars, the people of Serbia do not really know the burden of war as they have never been under attack.

“Serbs have never really felt the burden of war like the other countries in the region have ”, said Haxhiu.

In addition, the analyst claimed that the real intentions of the Serbian President Vucic are far from those he announces in public, adding that Serbia should not be trusted.

“When it comes to what is unfolding in Montenegro, Bosnia and North Macedonia, it seems that Vucic is looking out for his interests only, and he’s not at all merciful or tolerant”, he concluded.
