348 Afghan refugees have been temporarily offered shelter at the Shengjin resort where they have staged a protest today after the resort’s administrator has asked them to leave the premises.
The reason for this became the lack of payments made by the association that is funding the stay of Afghan refugees in Albania to the resort owners.
During today’s protest, dozens of Afghan refugees were seen holding banners and accusing authorities of forgetting about them and leaving them at the mercy of fate as they are now being evicted and have nowhere to go.
“We’ve been here for several months now and we have no information as to what will happen to us or whether or not we’ll ever go to the US or Canada. An organization hasn’t paid for months. We’re here with our families and children and we need different medicaments. We’re at a point when we don’t know what they’ll do with us,” – said an Afghani citizen at today’s protest.
