Political parties have agreed to make vaccines mandatory for all MPs entering parliament.

The head of the Socialist Party’s parliamentary group Taulant Balla said his idea was endorsed by other groups in parliament.

“We agreed to make vaccines mandatory for all MPs in the Assembly”, said Balla.

Asked about the deadline, Balla said that it is up to experts. The head of SP’s parliamentary group also expressed his concern for the current state of the pandemic and that the Assembly must raise awareness so that citizens get the jab, too.

“This is a very good message conveyed by the Assembly to our citizens, it is the only way to reduce the incidence rate, and we also urge students to do the same ahead of the new academic year”, he added.

“If we all respect the rules then we can take the situation under control”.

During Thursday’s plenary session, the opposition rejected the idea of having parliamentary committee meetings online.

But Balla informed that the meeting will take place only when discussing important issues, while procedural ones will be held virtually.
