The Minister of Education, Sport and Youth, Evis Kushi, the Minister of Economy and Finance, Anila Denaj and the Italian Ambassador, Fabrizio Bucci signed a new Agreement of Understanding for the “Iliria” program, with the aim of continuously encouraging the teaching of the Italian language, as a first foreign language in the Albanian education system.

Through this Agreement, Albania takes it upon itself to propagate the teaching and education of the Italian language in all pre-secondary school systems. On the other hand, Italy will continue to support the further development of the teaching and education of the Italian language through the cultivation of contributions that would benefit Albanian teachers of the Italian language as well as through supplying didactic materials for libraries and laboratories of the “Iliria” schools.

Italy will also continue to give its contribution in the background formation of Albanian teachers, through the Office of Schools of the Italian Embassy as well as the Italian Institute of Culture in Tirana, putting a focus on the continued Italian involvement in integration through innovative projects and cultural initiatives through traditional teaching materials and syllabuses.

This agreement also involves the inclusion of technical-professional schools around Albania, which will have the opportunity to be equipped with modules in the Italian language even for non-language courses, keeping in mind the large presence of Italian business enterprises in Albania as well as the need to find qualified human resources in the country.
