Albania has fallen by four places in the World Rule of Law Index, an initiative of the organization “World Justice Project”, which has been organized since 2008.
The organization ranks Albania in 87th place, out of 140 countries in total.
Eight factors are analyzed, from limiting government power to criminal and civil justice.
For criminal justice, the Index notes that the main impeding factors are corruption and political influence. In the criterion of corruption, our country ranks 107th in the global ranking, with a decrease compared to last year.
The indicator of whether government and judicial officials use office and power for personal gain is the lowest, with Albania ranking 126th out of 140 countries.
There is also a low ranking in the indicator of whether MPs use public office for private benefits, ranking 108th. Albania has the most positive ranking in the criterion of the implementation of basic human rights and order and security.
