Albania is expected to be one of the greatest beneficiaries of the Open Balkan initiative, said the head of Albania’s Association of Producers and Exporters, Alban Zusi.
According to Zusi, Open Balkan as a platform that should improve living conditions and promote economic growth in the region, is first and foremost expected to increase trade amongst small and medium business, which make up the majority of the business sector in Albania.
“Open Balkan brings added value even with just 3 countries… In a report published by CEFTA it stated that only based on the long waiting times at the customs checkpoint, our economies lose over 800 million euros. This was the loss only at the border, but the real cost is 3 times as high when taking into account our entire economy. Several positive things have happened, but we expect even better ones in the future,” – said Zusi.
