Albania ranks second to last in terms of income per capita, according to Eurostat

Albanians are among the citizens with the lowest purchasing power in Europe, and with their income, they can buy fewer goods and services compared to other European citizens.

The income per capita was 30% lower than the EU average consequently, consumption and purchasing power are at the lowest levels.

Eurostat released its 2020 report, where it indicates that in the past 5 years Albania scored the same level of welfare. Bosnia ranks last, at 33% of the European average, while Montenegro topped the list among Western Balkan countries.

In Europe, Luxemburg and Ireland have the highest standards when it comes to wages and consumption. The purchasing power of an Albanian citizen compared to these countries is around 4-5 times smaller.

The annual income per capita in Luxemburg is €110,000, while in the EU it’s €35,000, whereas in Albania €4,500.
