As exclusively reported by the Max Sport program on Euronews Albania this Sunday, the UEFA Executive Committee, during its meeting this Tuesday, granted Albania the right to be one of the host nations for the 2027 U-21 European Championship.

This tournament, set to take place in June 2027, will feature 16 teams representing the most outstanding young football talents in Europe, including players already competing in the continent’s top leagues. As a host nation, Albania will have, for the first time, the opportunity to be represented by its U-21 generation in a major international tournament.

The President of the Albanian Football Federation (FSHF), Armand Duka, stated:
“This is a very important decision by UEFA because the 2027 U-21 European Championship will be more than just a football tournament. It will serve as a catalyst for breaking barriers, strengthening mutual understanding, and creating a more positive future for the people of Albania and Serbia. This tournament will also showcase what can be achieved when people come together around a shared goal, inspired by the power of football.”

President Duka added:
“This will be the biggest sporting event in Albania’s history. Therefore, it provides us with the opportunity, with UEFA’s support, to modernize stadiums and football infrastructure across the country. Additionally, this event will create a lasting legacy to inspire future generations of players, volunteers, and fans in both countries.”

The two host nations will each welcome eight participating teams, with the matches being played in the respective host country until the grand final, which will take place at the Air Albania Stadium in Tirana.

This stadium, with a capacity of 22,000 spectators, previously hosted the UEFA Europa Conference League final in 2022. Meanwhile, the other 2027 U-21 European Championship matches scheduled to be held in Albania will take place at Loro Boriçi Stadium in Shkodër, Elbasan Arena in Elbasan, and Arena Egnatia in Rrogozhinë.
