PM Edi Rama has asked the diplomatic staff from the Islamic Republic of Iran which is currently situated in Albania, to leave the country within the next 24 hours.
In a speech posted on social media, Rama declared that the decision of the Council of Ministers comes after it was discovered that the Islamic Republic of Iran was the entity behind the July 15 cyber-attack against our country.
“The Council of Ministers has decided with immediate effect the termination of diplomatic relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran, this decision has been made known by an official note to the embassy of Iran, where a request to leave Albanian territory within 24 hours has been presented to the diplomatic and technical-administrative personnel, including security personnel”, said Rama.
On July 15, the National Information Society Agency (AKSHI) announced that our country was facing a cyber-attack coming from outside Albania.
After this attack, the e-Albania government portal restored 1118 of the 1225 electronic services it offers to Albanian citizens.
