The Albanian government has decided to purchase 500,000 vaccine doses from Pfizer, which will cost around $6 million. Asked from Euronews Albania, Health Minister Ogerta Manastirliu denied that none of the vaccines in possession had reached their expiration date.
“Currently, we don’t have any losses in vaccines, if we refer to expiration dates,”, said Manastirliu.
It was minister Manastirliu who announced the delivery of a new batch of vaccines, following a government meeting. She specified that the exact number of jabs set to arrive before the end of the year is 500,760.
Albania rolled out its vaccination campaign in January.
As of today, Albania has administered over 1.7 million doses, with over 780,000 people fully jabbed.
The government aims to step up vaccination efforts ahead of the winter season, which marked the peak of the pandemic last year.
