Prime Minister Edi Rama has reacted through a post on the “X” network regarding the publication of the Freedom of the Press Index Report, who this Friday, on the day of freedom of the press, underlined that Albania has marked a deterioration in media freedom, ranking it last among the countries of the region and candidate states for the European Union.

The prime minister thanks Reporters Without Borders for their “insightful report” and says the government will analyze it and take action to protect freedom of information.

“The issue of freedom of information is one of the most important today and I want to thank Reporters Without Borders for their insightful report. We will analyze it carefully, consult with all relevant parties and take further action to improve the media environment, protect freedom of information, fight disinformation and strengthen the rights of journalists. We are deeply troubled by the report’s main finding: that media freedom is under threat globally. The Albanian government is ready to take all the necessary responsibilities to help face this trend”, Rama wrote in “X”.

Meanwhile, the spokesperson of the Government of Kosovo, Pëparim Kryeziu, has reacted after the publication of the Freedom of the Press Index Report by the non-governmental organization, Reporters Without Borders, where Kosovo was ranked 75th, or 19 places lower than the previous year.

Kryeziu called for not to be discouraged, as he says that this has not been an easy year.

He even says that there are two main issues that have dictated Kosovo’s ranking in the Media Freedom Index this year. According to him, the decline in the level of media freedom happened because of the events in the north.
