Where are Albanians deciding to spend their summer vacation this year?

This is a usual topic of discussion during this time of the year. But, despite the fact that the global rise in prices has also affected the tourism sector, this doesn’t seem to have steered Albanian citizens away from their usual summer destination – Turkey.

“Turkey is very popular because what Albanians are looking for is a comfortable, economic and guaranteed vacation. In June, a family of 4 can spend 500 euros per person, children, free of charge and only pay for their flight,” – said Aurela Baholli, tour operator.

Meanwhile, foreigners continue to choose our coastline to spend their summer holidays. This year, Serbian tourists seem to have surprised operators.

“Serbian citizens have started to visit our coasts and beaches, especially during the summer season,” – said Rrahman Kasa, head of the Albanian Touristic Union.

The long COVID-imposed quarantines seem to have enhanced people’s desire to leave the home and travel to new places.

Only during the month of April 2022, a total of 402.051 foreigners entered Albania.

If we compare this to the same period last year, the number went up by 66.8%.
