Tradition says that the groom should not see the bride’s wedding dress. But in the case of Marcos, it is quite the opposite.

Cheap prices, compared to neighboring countries, brought an Italian couple to Albania. But not only foreigners also Albanians living abroad are bringing a new spirit of weddings to Albania.

Marriages today are made according to wishes and opportunities, old traditions are going out of fashion and each couple decides for themselves according to their tastes and wallet, what should be done on the happiest day of their life.

“From traditional weddings with many guests, more traditional ways of celebration, we have modern ways, starting from the entrance of the bride, she used to enter with that typical waltz, but now they choose songs other than hip hop, rap… we are seeing weddings with few people and with the presence of children, who did not have a wedding during the pandemic…”, said Evis Kazazi, event organizer.

The one that has resisted the change is the white dress, but even white dress is changing. Today, wedding day dresses can be of all colors, from champagne to red, with all kinds of embellishments and modifications: short in the front, long in the back, one-sleeve, colorful flowers with ribbon on the between

“Brides require several types of dresses. They prefer the most comfortable non-bloated style, they prefer three dresses. We can say that they are adapting to the times. There are brides looking for custom dresses, we sew them and they buy. Albanian brides are the ones who love renting dresses, Kosovo’s brides buy them”, said Fatjona Mekolli.

Songs, dances and instruments are the only part of tradition that has been combined with modernity, and that has managed to prevail over time.
